Infocom and other works of IF
In this post I will be discussing the company Infocom and another work of IF that I have interacted with. To start Infocom was one of the earliest video game companies created. The company started in 1979. Infocom games were text adventures where the player would use a parser to type in actions and other interactions. The infamous text adventure game Zork was created by Infocom. The company later on was bought by Activision in 1989 for $7.5 million dollars. Activision still used the Zork brand after the takeover for some titles.
So Infocom is a one of the main reasons we have all of these great works of IF. Speaking of IF works, the one I played around with recently was Leather Goddesses of Phobos. As usual I have no idea what is going on at the start and have only become more confused while playing it, however I am intrigued at what is going on.
In the first episode I was still getting my bearings and had no idea what my PC was getting into. Everything seemed so normal at first until I went from being in a bar to a cell.
I realized after getting this far that traveling to different places and or worlds was going to be a common occurrence. I met another stranger who was also taken so to speak, his name being Trent. I am not sure why Trent is here and what his purpose may be.
I did not mention this in my first post but I am also a pretty avid gamer and I do believe lots of the games we have today are also convoluted forms of IF. The Witcher 3 is my favorite game and I consider it a form of IF as it has many different endings and the ability to make choices within the game. The game has 36 different possible ending which is a lot in my opinion especially considering the work load for each ending. If you have not played the game I recommend it. Otherwise if you do not mind spoilers I would check out IGN where they list each ending and how to get it. As always thanks for reading and watching my interactions with IF.
