Reacting to maybe make some change

Image
Hello everyone, in this post I am going to be exploring a more serious and emotional piece of IF. The piece is called "maybe make some change" and was written by Aaron Reed. The story has you play as a soldier who appears to be on trial for murder. I find the story to be interesting as it tests the reader morality a lot and often had me wondering if I was the bad guy. I also found that the sound and images running in the background to be a nice touch and added a sense of immersion to the story. maybe make some change 1 When I first started after the initial black screen it had shoot and some blank spaces on the left of the screen. Right now like the story told me I only knew how to shoot but the key to progressing is to learn what else I was able to do beside shoot. I learned how to calm, warn, threaten, hug, hear, and miss. At this point I figured out that I need to connect the words on the left side of the screen with the words h...

Reaction to 9:05

Image
For this post I will be explaining my reaction to a specific work of IF. The piece is called 9:05 by Adam Cadre. Before I get into any details I just want warn you that there are major  spoilers  for the story ahead and if you have not heard of 9:05 I recommend you go try it out for yourself then comeback and share your experience in the comments. Episode 1 In this first episode I had no idea what was going on but it seemed like the PC you play has just woken up late for work and it is still a somewhat normal scenario. I followed a morning routine like showering, getting dressed, and having breakfast. Next I left to go to my job and when I got in the building I stopped by the office and apparently the people had no idea who I was and turns out I murdered the person who was suppose to be working and the body was stuffed under the bed. Episode 2 So my second clip is an entirely different play through seeing as my last one ended up with me going to prison for life. The fir...

Journey Into Space

Image
Greetings adventurers! Last time I talked about Info com and played a game Leather Goddesses of Phobos which was science fiction. In this post I am going to continue with these space adventures by playing Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The story was written by Douglas Adams. In the story you play as Arthur Dent and you travel and explore with your friend Ford and eventually make it into space. Ford for me is a curious character as I do not know much about him. I looked into the character Ford and found that the Hitchhikers Fandom gave some info without spoiling anything which was nice. The story can prove to be quite difficult as there are many opportunities where you can miss important items and sometimes even die. Episode 1 In this 1st episode it was not too hard to progress although I did have to restart 1 time as I died once in the beginning. I was surprised that I died to the bulldozer when I tried to follow Ford and realized I had wait for Ford to interfere. By t...

Infocom and other works of IF

Image
In this post I will be discussing the company Infocom and another work of IF that I have interacted with. To start Infocom was one of the earliest video game companies created. The company started in 1979. Infocom games were text adventures where the player would use a parser to type in actions and other interactions. The infamous text adventure game Zork was created by Infocom. The company later on was bought by Activision in 1989 for $7.5 million dollars. Activision still used the Zork brand after the takeover for some titles. So Infocom is a one of the main reasons we have all of these great works of IF. Speaking of IF works, the one I played around with recently was Leather Goddesses of Phobos. As usual I have no idea what is going on at the start and have only become more confused while playing it, however I am intrigued at what is going on. Leather Goddesses of Phobos 1 In the first episode I was still getting my bearings and had no idea what my PC was getti...
